The aircraft carrier deck crew wore N-1 deck jackets during World War II and the Korean War. The thick cotton shell and alpaca or wool lining gave the deck crew the needed warmth and protection from the elements during extreme cold weather conditions. The initial series was produced in Navy blue to symbolize the US Navy before it eventually changed to Khaki.
This is a reproduction of the 1943 version of the 1st N-1 jacket. The cuffs are wool, with gaskets and a gun belt under the arm. The wool lining is light brown. These are details that remain true to the original.
