Very little information is available about these classic cargo pants, and only one is in the hands of a Japanese collector.
In the late 19th century, Charles A. Jones has designed a pair of jeans with a double fabric design for the top half, which was patented in December 1879, the first use of the pockets cover and double fabric design on jeans. The jeans are said to be specially designed for railway workers, with a double-decker design that reduces wear and tears during intensive operations, and the pockets cover that prevents parts from falling off.
In this version some improvements have been made to the original design, with slanted pockets added on both sides for easy to put your hands in your pockets, making them more practical for everyday use.
